Republicans bet the House on staying on offense
If the GOP’s House majority is in jeopardy, somebody forgot to tell the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The NRCC, the committee charged with keeping Republicans in control of the House, is spending nearly as much on offensive opportunities as on defense so far this cycle. That’s despite Democrats’ predictions that they could take 25 seats from Republicans and regain the majority.

Obama, Romney in tight race nationally as first debate looms

Gov. John Kasich makes a comeback in Ohio
Even as Mitt Romney’s fortunes in Ohio appear to have taken a turn for the worse, another Republican is riding high in the Buckeye State.

Less than a year after he lost a big fight with the state’s labor unions on a ballot referendum (and acknowledged the defeat in very candid fashion), Kasich’s political brand is on the rise. A new Washington Post poll, in fact, suggests he’s now among the more popular governors in the country.

Downballot Dems: Ryan worse than Romney
That Democrats are airing TV ads tying downballot Republican candidates to the GOP presidential ticket is nothing new.
That those ads more often feature GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan than presidential nominee Mitt Romney is somewhat unexpected.
Democrats in a total of seven non-presidential races this year have run ads attacking Ryan, according to Kantar Media/CMAG, which tracks TV ads. Several of those are ads run by the party’s House campaign arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
